The Greek team displayed excellent defense, but struggled to find the winning goal. It was Skoumbakis who ultimately sealed the victory with a fantastic goal, giving Greece a 10-9 lead with only 57 seconds remaining. Montenegro had an opportunity to equalize and force the game into penalties, but their shot hit the post, leading to jubilant celebrations from the Vlachos team.
The Greek water polo team will now face the winner of the Italy-Serbia match in the semifinals, with a chance to secure a place in the final.
