Aircraft have been operating in flooded areas between Trikala and Karditsa, central Greece, since midday. They include 10 helicopters (3 of them belonging to the Army) and a total of 67 individuals have been rescued: 25 from Metamorfosi in Palamas of Karditsa, 27 adults and a baby from Agia Triada in Palamas (where 6 individuals are still missing), and 14 individuals form the greater area of Karditsa and Trikala, he said.

In addition, the Armed Forces and Civil Protection will distribute over 3,000 portions of food and water to 24 villages in Karditsa and Trikala.

“As I confirmed earlier, we stand by the residents of areas that have been affected and are undergoing great ordeals,” Kikilias said.
