In a highly anticipated match between Panathinaikos Athens and Olympiacos Piraeus, the absence of Sasha Vezenkov didn’t hinder Olympiacos as they easily dismantled their rivals to secure a commanding 75-51 victory and clinch the Greek Super Cup.
Right from the tip-off, Panathinaikos struggled to find their rhythm, while Olympiacos asserted their dominance on both ends of the court.
With the first quarter ending with a meager score of 5-4 in favor of Olympiacos, Panathinaikos suffered a scoring drought that lasted for a staggering 14 minutes. Meanwhile, Olympiacos went on an impressive 27-0 run, firmly taking control of the game with a commanding 32-4 lead at halftime.
The lopsided score even prompted Olympiacos president, Panagiotis Angelopoulos, to capture the moment by taking a photo of the scoreboard.
Tension escalated in the fourth quarter as Isaiah Canaan and Kostas Antetokounmpo engaged in a brief conflict, resulting in both players receiving technical fouls.
This victory marks Olympiacos’ sixth consecutive domestic title, solidifying their position as a dominant force in Greek basketball. Leading the charge, Giannoulis Larentzakis showcased his skills by contributing a game-leading 20 points, securing him the tournament MVP title.
