Diplomacy an important tool for strengthening the international image of the country

"This mechanism is related to the efforts of the states to strengthen their international image through culture, education, special forms of tourism," he noted.

“It is increasingly accepted at a global level that public diplomacy is an important soft power mechanism,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Kotsiras said on Monday in an article on the “pagenews.gr” website.

“This mechanism is related to the efforts of the states to strengthen their international image through culture, education, special forms of tourism,” he noted.

The further strengthening of Greece’s international image through public diplomacy is a central priority of the foreign ministry, which is reflected both in the Strategic Plan for the period 2023-28 and in its Annual Action Plan, Kotsiras underlined.

He also pointed out that “a National Strategy for Public Diplomacy is being prepared. This strategy will include, among other things, the promotion and highlighting of key reforms, investment opportunities and comparative advantages of the country, promotion of the rich cultural heritage and modern cultural creation, as well as the promotion of Greek studies, with a particular emphasis on the promotion of foreign language programmes of Greek universities and Greek studies.”
