Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis during his press briefing on Monday answered press question on the Greece-Turkiye High Cooperation Council meeting that will be held in Athens on Thursday, saying,
“We are not informed on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s possible visit to Thrace. Regarding the crucial meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with President Erdogan, we are looking forward to another significant step for the establishment of a climate of dialogue. Our only difference is the delimitation of the continental shelf and of the Exclusive Economic Zone. We are going to the meeting without any intention of backng down from our sovereign rights, our differences are set, but these should not produce any crises”.
Asked on the postponement of mayor-elect of Himare and ethnic Greek Fredi Beleri’s request to be released, Marinakis insisted that the Greek government will continue to support the rights of the legally elected mayor of Himare and will not stop until all his political rights are respected.
