Miltos Tedoglou and Antigoni Drisbioti Named Top Athletes of the Year in Greece

Miltos Tedoglou and Antigoni Drisbioti have been named the top athletes of the year for the second consecutive year by the Panhellenic Association of Sports Press (PSAT). This announcement was made at the “Celebration of the Top” event organized by the Association of Sports Journalists.
In addition to the individual awards, the men’s national polo team was recognized as the top team for winning the silver medal at the World Championship. Their coach, Thodoris Vlachos, was also named the top coach of 2023.
Athanasios Gavelas was honored as the top athlete with a disability for his outstanding performance in judo, while Theodora Paschalidou received the top athlete with a disability award for her achievements in the sport. The national deaf women’s basketball team was crowned as the top team of athletes with disabilities for the second consecutive year.
The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religion, and Sports, with sponsorship from companies such as “betarades,” “Hercules Group,” “Aegean Air,” and “UMBRO.” Communication support for the event was provided by the “Athenian Macedonian News Agency,” “gazzetta.gr,” and “netway.”
Miltos Tedoglou, who was named the top athlete of the year, is a world long jump champion who also secured a gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul. Antigoni Drisbioti, the top female athlete of the year, earned a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in the 35km Vadın race.
The top team of the year award went to the National Men’s Polo Team, who won the silver medal at the World Championship and secured direct qualification to the Paris Olympic Games. Thodoris Vlachos, the team’s coach, demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout the tournament.
Other notable awards include Athanasios Gavelas winning the top athlete with a disability title for his remarkable achievements in the 100m category, and Theodora Paschalidou being honored as the top athlete with a disability for her gold medal victory at the European Para-Sports Championship in the -70kg category. The national deaf women’s basketball team retained the title of the top team of athletes with disabilities after winning the bronze medal at the World Championship.
These outstanding athletes and teams were recognized for their exceptional performances and contributions to their respective sports in Greece.
