It was further noted that the green electricity tariff, perhaps the most popular one, could start in 2024 with prices lower than 14 cents per Kilowatthour (kWh), it was highlighted.

The average price of electricity in the Greek stock market in December came close to 102 euros per megawatt hour, compared to 110 in the summer and 190 in the beginning of 2023, while in 2022, at the height of the energy crisis, it had exceeded 430 euros, electricity market sources told Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Saturday.

It was also noted that the new colored electricity tariffs (green, blue, yellow and orange) which are available to Greek power consumers as of January 1 offer efficient alternative options depending on their preferences and their power consumption profile, sources added, as ensured in this new energy market operating framework established by the Ministry of Environment & Energy.

It was further noted that the green electricity tariff, perhaps the most popular one, could start in 2024 with prices lower than 14 cents per Kilowatthour (kWh), it was highlighted.

Electricity supply sufficiency and large natural gas stocks in Europe’s warehouses, combined with a mild winter, so far point to further price declines, even though a cause for a sudden price hike should never be ruled out, sources pointed out.

Summing up the available electricity tariffs, sources remind consumers of the different benefits of each one: the green tariff, which consumers will have by default unless choosing another, will have a changing price that will be announced by electricity providers on the 1st of each month; the blue tariff, which has a fixed kilowatt-per-hour price for the entire calendar year; the yellow tariff, which fluctuates in price according to domestic and international market developments, and the yellow tariff, which power consumers should only choose if their homes have the latest generation of ‘smart meters’ installed.
