The US is currently working on a “major regional agreement” aimed at “long-term stability as part of a post-war reality” after the end of the conflict in Gaza, Israeli media reported today.
Citing an unnamed Israeli source, the Israel Hayom newspaper reported on the deal: “In addition to ending hostilities in Gaza, it also provides for normalization between Israel and the Arab world, the release of detained people and a new regime in Gaza ».
The deal appears to be “part of what US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was referring to when he said this week at the (World Economic Forum) in Davos that Israel needs to make tough decisions,” the newspaper added.
According to the same source, the agreement is ” still in a very preliminary stage and it is not clear how much of it has already been formulated in a text that could mean the end of the war and its replacement by a political process.”
Neither party has officially commented on the newspaper report.
