“With the upgrades to all services of the electronic ticketing system implemented last year,” Mendoni noted, “revenues from the Acropolis continue to rise. From €46 million in 2022, they have reached €60 million in 2023.”

Responding to a question from Nea Aristera Deputy Nasos Iliopoulos, who accused the government of “implementing a brutal policy” by raising entrance fees by up to 300%, potentially hindering tourism and widening social inequalities, the Minister of Culture rejected the claims.

“The new pricing policy, which will take effect in April 2025, simply follows the logic and best practices of other European countries,” Mendoni emphasized. “Even with this adjustment, prices at the Acropolis will remain notably lower compared to similar monuments in other European nations.”
