On Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis conveyed Greece’s commitment to offering comprehensive humanitarian aid to the Middle East, covering support for its ports, infrastructure, and commercial fleet. He made this announcement during joint statements in Athens alongside his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Ivanović.
Gerapetritis referred to the bilateral relations between Greece and Montenegro, expressing Greece’s willingness for further enhancement of cooperation on various levels such as the economy, transportation, and tourism.
Confirming the positive atmosphere, Montenegro’s Foreign Minister Filip Ivanović stressed that Montenegro and Greece are allied countries and reaffirmed the friendly ties between the two nations.
Responding to a question from the Athens-Macedonian News Agency he emphasized Greece’s leadership role in the EU enlargement towards the Western Balkans, as well as the technical assistance and support provided by the country to Montenegro. “So far, we have benefited from Greek expertise and knowledge regarding our imminent accession, the incorporation of the acquis communautaire,” he noted and announced that he received assurance from Gerapetritis that a comprehensive response will soon be provided to cover all areas where Greece can assist Montenegro on its path towards the EU.
