Avgenakis inaugurates 3rd Cretan Products Forum

Avgenakis also added that Greece, even though a small country, is one of the top five countries worldwide as regards the number of PDO and PGI products, while Crete has a strong footprint.

“Our ultimate goal is for Cretan products to conquer the world,” Rural Development and Food Minister Lefteris Avgenakis stated on Friday, at the start of the 3rd Cretan Products Forum taking place at the Helexpo exhibition centre in Marousi, Athens on April 19-20. The minister noted that producers should invest in an export orientation and on giving surplus value to Cretan products, stating that “this is the way to change and transform the agro sector in order to evolve”.

Avgenakis also added that Greece, even though a small country, is one of the top five countries worldwide as regards the number of PDO and PGI products, while Crete has a strong footprint.

Participants in the forum include 120 companies, 65 groups, 722 hotel enterprises and 1,273 food stores and supermarkets, while an estimated 17,500 and more B2B meetings are expected to take place.
