Miltos Tentoglou will compete in the men’s long jump final, aiming for his third gold medal in a European championship. Here’s a detailed overview of Greek participation for the day.
With his first attempt at the European Athletics, Tentoglou leapt to 8.14 meters, comfortably qualifying for the long jump final. Today (08/06) is the big day, as the Greek jumper enters the battle for the final at 21:06, which you can watch on ERT2 and SPORT24.
Furthermore, Alexandros Papamichail will participate in the 20km race walk, marking his fifth appearance in the competition. The experienced athlete comes from an outstanding season with a time of 1 hour 21.55 minutes in the 20km race walk, his fifth career best and the best time he has achieved in the last 12 years. Papamichail has participated in several races this year, and it remains uncertain how both the athletes and the weather conditions will affect the outcome.
There is significant interest in the women’s qualifiers, as a two-time winner of the competition and second-place finisher two years ago in Munich, Katerina Stefanidi, will compete. Stefanidi, coached by Mitchel Krier, has exceeded 4.64 meters this year and is expected to easily advance to the final 12. Similarly, Eleni Polaki, who achieved 4.60 meters this year, will enter the competition with the same goal. The youngest in the group, Ariadni Adamopoulou, will seek to improve her personal record of 4.50 meters.
Our three athletes, Michalis Anastasakis, Christos Frantzeskakis, and Kostas Zaltos, will compete in the men’s hammer throw qualifiers, while Polynikis Emmanouilidis and Dimitra Tsoukala will participate in the 100m sprint.
