Twelve of the costumes used in Giorgos Lanthimos' film "Poor Things" are featured in an exhibition inaugurated by Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Benaki Museum in Kolonaki on Tuesday.

Titled “Poor Things: The Costumes—In Conversation with Costume Designer Holly Waddington,” the exhibition includes the film’s costume designer, who will also address the public on Wednesday at the Pireos branch. It opens to the public on Wednesday (June 12) and will run until September 29, 2024.

Waddington, recognized for her work with an Oscar and a BAFTA (British Academy Film Awards), created the six costumes on display for the character of Bella Baxter, portrayed by Oscar winner Emma Stone. The remaining six costumes in the exhibition were worn by actors Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Kathryn Hunter, and Vicki Pepperdine.

Expressing her enthusiasm and gratitude for the “beautiful exhibition at the Benaki Museum,” Waddington also praised Lanthimos as a “creative and liberating person” who allowed her artistic freedom in designing the costumes, only requesting that they reflect the film’s evolving narrative.

Based on a novel by Alasdair Gray, the film has received four Oscars, five BAFTAs, and a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
