Greek PM Mitsotakis Participates in Ukraine Peace Conference in Switzerland

The conference, which involves heads of state and government from the European Union, aims to promote a common understanding of the framework for achieving peace and defining a roadmap for the future peace process.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is participating in the Peace Conference on Ukraine, which is taking place from June 15-16 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. The conference, which involves heads of state and government from the European Union, aims to promote a common understanding of the framework for achieving peace and defining a roadmap for the future peace process.

The conference is focused on three main topics: food security and freedom of navigation, nuclear safety, and humanitarian issues such as the release of prisoners of war and abducted children. These topics are based on the “Peace Formula” proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in November 2022.

Food security is a particularly important issue for the Greek Prime Minister, who has repeatedly emphasized its international significance. During a recent visit to Odessa, Mitsotakis highlighted the importance of the historical city and its main export port, as well as the need to maintain an open supply chain to allow Ukraine to export its products.

At the conference, Mitsotakis took part in the first plenary session and then held a meeting with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, ahead of the EPP leaders’ summit in Brussels on Monday.

The purpose of the peace conference is to promote a common understanding of the framework for achieving peace in Ukraine and to define a roadmap for the future peace process, focusing on key issues such as food security, nuclear safety, and humanitarian concerns.
