According to a ministry announcement, the new application will digitise the process of inspecting and recording buildings damaged by natural disasters. It will allow civil engineers to carry out inspections much more quickly, with safety, transparency and without unnecessary bureaucracy, uploading both documents and pictures used in the assessment of building safety.

Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou and Deputy Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Triantopoulos on Wednesday announced the new electronic application “Digispect”, during a meeting at the digital governance ministry.

The application can be installed in mobile devices, such as a tablet, and access will be allowed through codes only to authorised users. Once the process is completed, the building occupant/owner will receive an e-mail or tex message with a copy of the necessary documents attached.

It will also be able to operate in offline mode, allowing the data to be temporarily stored and uploaded when the device is back online, while it will also upload useful data about each building, such as its geographical location, facilitating cross checking.
