Greece Battles 62 Wildfires in 24 Hours Amid Intense Lightning Activity

While firefighters managed to quickly contain 44 of the blazes, 18 remain active and require ongoing intervention.

The situation escalated on Tuesday afternoon, with reports from the Fire Service indicating that 39 wildfires erupted within a short period between 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM due to severe lightning strikes in different parts of the country.

Aerial firefighting units are currently battling the blazes in several regions, including Elassona, Skafi Kozani, Delphi, Vlacherna Arcadia, Thasos island, Karpenisi, and five locations within Corinth.
