The Greek Ministry of National Economy and Finance, in collaboration with the Hellenic Police and local municipalities, conducted extensive checks on more than 150 beaches and 750 businesses following over 4,500 citizen complaints received over the past three weeks. Complaints were primarily submitted through the MyCoast app and local Real Estate Services.

According to the Ministry, while there has been overall improvement compared to previous years, inspections identified several violations. Issues ranged from inadequate signage to unauthorized constructions and excessive use of space with additional umbrellas and seats. Businesses found in violation faced administrative fines totalling over 800,000 euros. Notably, approximately 20 beach sections illegally occupied by umbrellas and seats were returned to public use in areas including Rhodes, Mesolongi, Volos, Corfu, Parga, Thessaloniki, and Heraklion.

The Ministry emphasized that inspections will continue rigorously in areas with high complaint volumes and reported violations, ensuring compliance with beach management regulations.
