METLEN Energy & Metals (formerly MYTILINEOS) has successfully completed the sale of one of its portfolio of UK solar projects to Schroders Greencoat. The portfolio consists of three farms, located in Gorse Lane of Lincolnshire, Defford of Worcestershire and Watnall of Nottinghamshire, and has a total capacity of 110MWp, providing the equivalent of power for around 41,300 homes per year.
The three solar farms were developed in the UK by METLEN’s M Renewables. In April 2022 the company and Centrica signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Vodafone UK for the power generated by the three projects.
The company underlined in its announcement that the transaction demonstrates METLEN’s commitment to simplify and upgrade its portfolio to maximize shareholder value. METLEN emphasized that it remains a world leader in complex, large-scale projects, across the spectrum of solar energy, offering its customers full development and manufacturing services, including detailed design, and long-term maintenance services.
In October 2023 METLEN announced the signing of a contract for the construction of Cleve Hill, a 373MW solar project in Kent, UK with Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners. Cleve Hill is currently the largest approved solar project in the UK and is expected to be completed in early 2025.
In the UK, METLEN has been operating for over 10 years. Having 82 projects already completed, with a total value of 2.5 billion euros, the company has established itself as a preferred partner for the country’s energy transition, offering a range of leading green energy solutions from RES projects to energy storage systems and grid projects.
