Greek Water Polo Team Triumphs Over Romania in 2024 Olympic Debut

The Greek men’s water polo national team defeated Romania 14-7 in their opening match at the 2024 Olympic Games, with the Greek team facing no issues and starting the tournament in the best possible way.

Greek tennis stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari, along with the men’s water polo team, are set to compete on Sunday, the second day of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

After his match was postponed Saturday due to rain, Stefanos Tsitsipas will return to the court to face Zizou Bergs of Belgium in the third match of the men’s singles qualifying round. Tsitsipas is expected to play in the late afternoon, around 5 p.m.

Tsitsipas will also team up with his brother Petros Tsitsipas in the men’s doubles, where they will compete against the Portuguese duo of Borges and Cabral. This will be the sixth match in the men’s doubles sequence. The Tsitsipas brothers are anticipated to take the court around 10 p.m.

Maria Sakkari will make her debut today against Danka Kovinić of Montenegro at 1 p.m.

Additionally, following the women’s water polo team’s 15-6 loss to the USA, the men’s water polo team will face Romania in Group A at 10 p.m.
