Some 78 homes were either permanently or temporarily marked an unhabitable by over 60 inspectors of the Climate Crisis and Civil Protecion Ministry after the fire that broke on Sunday.

As of Tuesday to Wednesday, the inspector groups checked homes and businesses in the East Attica suburbs and towns of Vrilissia, Dionyssos, Marathon, Pallini, Penteli, Rafina-Pikermi, Chalandri, and Oropos, with the help of municipalities. Up to Wednesday afternoon, a total of 130 buildings were inspected, with 112 being homes, 13 storage spaces, 2 public buildings, and 3 professional spaces.

Of the 78 homes, 34 are severely damaged and need to be demolished, and 44 need extensive repairs before they become habitable again. If home-linked spaces such as storerooms and such are included, a total of 92 private properties were inspected. Some 38 buildings, homes, and storage areas were marked as still usable, with minor repairs.

Inspections will continue this week, as will those by the Region of Attica, which has so far recorded 22 businesses damaged by fire.
