The International Association of Lighthouse Keepers established World Lighthouse Day in 2003, which is celebrated every year on the third Sunday of August.

This initiative was made to inform people about the importance of lighthouses and all the naval tools used for safe navigation. It also highlights the importance of lighthouse keepers, who often work under difficult conditions.
