High threat level of fire in Attica, Crete, and parts of three other regions on Saturday

The General Secretariat of Civil Protection has informed relevant state services, as well as regions and municipalities in the abovementioned areas, to be on alert for any fires that break out.

A high threat level of fire (category 4, on a scale of 1-5) is forecast on Saturday in the Regions of Attica and Crete, as well as in parts of the Regions of Central Greece, Peloponnese, and the North Aegean.

According to the Daily Fire Hazard Forecast Map, issued by the General Secretariat of Climate Protection at the Climate Crisis & Civil Protection Ministry, the following regions and areas face a high threat level for fire on Saturday:

– Region of Attica (including Kythira island, which belongs administratively to Attica)

– Region of Central Greece (Regional Units of Viotia, Evia island)

– Region of Peloponnese (R/U of Corinthia, Argolid, Laconia)

– Region of North Aegean (R/U of Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Ikaria islands)

– Region of Crete

The General Secretariat of Civil Protection has informed relevant state services, as well as regions and municipalities in the abovementioned areas, to be on alert for any fires that break out.

Patrols are also scheduled all day by the Fire Department, the Greek police, and the Armed Forces. Citizens are warned to avoid any activities leading to a fire, to follow information for the prevention of fires on the web and Facebook and Twitter accounts of the Fire Department, and to call the latter in case of fire at 199.
