The Outdoor Museum of Contemporary Art in Lake Plastira is set to host its first International Sculpture Symposium from September 15 to October 10, 2024.
This landmark event will feature sculptures by five renowned artists hailing from Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Canada. Their contributions are expected to play a significant role in the artistic evolution of the museum, which is quickly becoming a hub for contemporary art.
The symposium is financed by the German government, which has allocated €50,000 in response to a request from the Municipality of Limni Plastira, part of the Karditsa Regional Unit. This funding approval follows the visit of the German Consul General to Morfovouni in August 2023, which marked the 80th anniversary of the 1943 destruction of local villages by Italian and German forces during World War II.
The creation of the Outdoor Museum of Contemporary Art is progressing under unique and challenging conditions, with the aim of establishing the museum as an innovative environmental and artistic landmark. The upcoming symposium is expected to contribute significantly to this vision, blending natural beauty with contemporary artistic expression.
