“Greece is among the top preferences for Norwegian travelers for 2024, according to research by tourism industry experts,” highlights the website startsiden.no.
The informative site, with millions of visitors, notes that Greek destinations offer the perfect combination for relaxation, nature appreciation, vacationing, good food, and endless exploration, making them irresistible. The article then focuses on non-mass, alternative destinations associated with quality and potential new favorite spots for Norwegian tourists.
Lefkada with its stunning beaches, Alonissos with its untouched natural environment, and hospitable Karpathos with its dramatic landscape variations are the top three on the list. They are followed by the lush Thassos and the atmospheric Syros. Next on the list are Preveza, Ioannina, and Parga, representing mainland Greece and offering unique tours. The list concludes with the established and always relevant destinations of Crete with its timeless charm, Samos with its rich history, the iconic Santorini, Rhodes with its diverse offerings, and the popular Kos.
“Samos, the island of Pythagoras, Aristarchus, and Epicurus, is a charming place with everything one dreams of. Exceptional natural landscapes, beaches with crystal-clear waters, majestic mountains, monuments of long-standing culture, and unique local products. Travelers have the opportunity to explore picturesque villages and experience traditions, excellent local cuisine, and warm hospitality. Cultural events and sports activities enrich their stay,” stated the Mayor of East Samos, Paris Papageorgiou.
“Utilising Samos’ multifaceted tourism product, our goal is to strengthen ties with established foreign markets such as Scandinavia and to open markets like Turkey based on the new favorable conditions,” added the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of West Samos, Evangelos Marnezos.
“Scandinavians show their preference for Karpathos even before the high season, with satisfactory arrival rates. The island remains authentic while offering a wide range of options for staying more than a week, exploring villages, dozens of exotic beaches, and historical sites,” added the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Karpathos, Tasos Milios.
“We are working systematically to enhance the outward orientation of Alonissos while maintaining its identity as a non-mass destination where one can relax, enjoy homemade hospitality and local cuisine, and engage in nature activities at the largest natural marine park in the Mediterranean and Greece’s first underwater museum,” stated the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Alonissos Municipality and travel agent Diogenis Theodorou.
