President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou received the credentials of the new ambassadors at the Presidential Mansion on Tuesday. The ambassadors represent Zambia, Colombia, Oman, Congo, Mauritius, Mauritania, San Marino, Kenya, Chad, Turkmenistan, Burundi and Guinea.
In her address to the new ambassadors, Sakellaropoulou expressed confidence that during their tenures, they would work towards deepening bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, to the benefit of their nations.
She highlighted the global challenges and widespread instability, specifically citing the rise in conflicts, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the escalation of violence in the Middle East. She also discussed issues like the energy crisis, migration and refugee challenges, intolerance, extremism, climate change and the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence, which offers both benefits and risks.
“In this context, the need for continuous vigilance and collective action is more urgent than ever,” Sakellaropoulou stated, adding that Greece, in these difficult times, serves as a pillar of stability in Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.
“As an elected member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term, Greece, with a sense of responsibility and respect for International Law and the UN Charter, aims to contribute to addressing and resolving contemporary issues and reducing tensions. In this spirit, I look forward to the fruitful cooperation of our countries and wish you strength and success in your duties,” she concluded.
