Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced on Saturday that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will soon travel to Greece to address ongoing bilateral issues, including long-standing disputes over maritime zones and airspace. Erdogan, returning from a trip to Serbia, expressed optimism for improved relations between the two countries.
Emphasizing the need for open dialogue and cooperation, Erdogan stated, “It is important for both sides to have the will to define the problems, outline and present their content, and find solutions.” He further highlighted the importance of resolving maritime and airspace jurisdictions within the framework of international law to enhance regional security and stability.
Greece and Turkey, both NATO allies, share a history of conflict and remain divided on various issues, including territorial disputes in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the Cyprus conflict.
