The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Saturday attended the official liturgy for the patron Saint (St. Dimitrios) and the anniversary of the liberation of the city of Thessaloniki.
After the liturgy, Sakellaropoulou stated “Thessaloniki celebrates today its patron saint, Saint Dimitrios, and with him the anniversary of its liberation from the Ottoman Rule. On this day, all Greeks, with faith in the timeless values of our long history, we honour those who gave their lives for the integration of Macedonia with Greece.
Their memory is a source of inspiration and pride”.
