Migration Min Panagiotopoulos meets with Interior Ministers of Turkiye and Armenia

Migration and Asylum Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos met with the Interior Minister of Turkiye Ali Yerlikaya on the sidelines of the 7th Ministerial Conference of the Budapest Process.

Migration and Asylum Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos met with the Interior Minister of Turkiye Ali Yerlikaya on the sidelines of the 7th Ministerial Conference of the Budapest Process.

The two ministers expressed their satisfaction over the results of the Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria trilateral cooperation on the control of the illegal migrants flow at the land borders and agreed to there should be intensification of the cooperation and at the sea borders in order to have similar positive results.

Panagiotopoulos pointed out to Gerlikaya, that the common enemy is the criminal rings of traffickers which can only be effectively dealt with by the joint effort and cooperation of the two countries.

The Migration and Asylum Minister also met with the Interior Minister of Armenia Vahe Ghazaryan with whom the examined ways to enhance the bilateral cooperation in the migration. They also discussed the possibility of providing technical assistance and exchange of best practices regarding reception ans asylum systems and procedures as well as the issue of legal migration.
