The Ministry of Environment and Energy is advancing a reform aimed at protecting the country’s forest resources from climate change, with 750 million euros in funding. Special emphasis is placed on flood prevention in Thessaly and Attica. The interventions include forest engineering projects, anti-wildfire measures, management studies, and mountain hydrology works.

The Anti-nero program has already allocated approximately 392 million euros for projects and studies, with two contracts worth 215 million euros recently signed between the Ministry and Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund for mountain hydrology and forest management studies. Flood prevention, anti-erosion, and reforestation projects are also underway across the country. Minister Thodoros Skilakakis highlighted the importance of forests in protecting against floods, noting investments in mountain hydrology projects in both Thessaly and Attica.
