With a bill that will be introduced in Parliament almost every month, the government is attempting sweeping changes to the economy in 2025. With fiscal stability as its compass and growth as its goal, the economic staff is moving ahead with reforms that will pave the way for more tax cuts, changes to property and business taxes, attracting new investment and further boosting incomes beyond the increases that will be given next week to pensions and the minimum wage and to the civil service that will be announced in April.
Kostis Hatzidakis’ blue envelope for 2025 includes 10 bills and 14 strategic initiatives which, among other things, will include:
- “Lifting” in property taxation with changes in incentives, removal of obstacles and fairer taxation.
- A new framework for the operation of the stock exchange that has remained in the pre-memorandum era.
- Privatization and modern mechanisms that will bring new deals for the utilization of public assets.
- Electronic monitoring and control of everything moved by the tax authorities.
- Innovations and changes in the map of social benefits.
- A new type of system of control and utilization of government spending.
