“There is a diagnosed problem. Many times, parents pretend that it doesn’t exist because we are comfortable leaving our children with a mobile phone somewhere, without being particularly aware of what they are seeing. If we have diagnosed this, we should take measures. It is very easy to say that we are taking measures. To say I forbid it. But we should see how these measures can be implemented. It is pointless to say that I forbid something when the next day you cannot enforce it,” Papastergiou explained.

“The main issue is how you check the age of these children. Through the digital wallet, we can derive the age from the civil registry. There is a digital way to check the age of the owner of a phone. And the goal for us is to force the platforms to seek an age certificate. We are looking for a common European tool for age verification.”
