Kimberly Guilfoyle Named U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Expresses Eagerness to Strengthen Ties

Kimberly Guilfoyle told the Greek national broadcaster ERT that she was very honored to be named by President-elect Donald Trump as the U.S. ambassador to Greece.Guilfoyle expressed her eagerness to secure the approval of the relevant U.S. Senate committee for the post and shared her enthusiasm for working with the Greek government to ensure that strong Greek-U.S. relations continue to deepen under President-elect Trump’s leadership.She noted that as a valuable NATO ally, Greece plays a key role in the European Union. Guilfoyle highlighted that her appointment in Athens underscored the regard Trump has for Greece and reflected the deep and dynamic relationship between the two countries.
Guilfoyle referred to Greece as one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe, with a society that demonstrates resilience despite the significant challenges the country faces. She mentioned that her agenda would focus on strong economic development, education, energy security, and collaboration in the defense sector.The nominated ambassador expressed her appreciation to Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, to businessman and close friend of President-elect Trump John Catsimatidis, and to leaders of the Greek-American community for their support and good wishes. She also stated that she was preparing to depart for Greece and wanted to express her deep appreciation to Ambassador George Tsunis for his support and crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition.
Guilfoyle explained to ERT that she couldn’t wait to start her mission as U.S. ambassador to Greece and that she was eagerly looking forward to meeting the Greek people and visiting the beautiful country with its rich history. She also emphasized that she would strive to meet President-elect Donald Trump’s expectations by serving both the American people and the people of Greece as effectively as possible.
