Greece’s First Cabinet Meeting of 2025: Key Bills and Financial Programs on the Agenda

Greece’s first Cabinet meeting of 2025 is scheduled to take place today at Maximos Mansion, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The session will feature a comprehensive agenda, including three significant legislative proposals and updates on critical financial programs from the Ministry of Finance.

Key Legislative Proposals

1. Strengthening the Capital Market: Minister of Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis will present a bill designed to enhance the capital market, aiming to foster economic growth and attract investments.
2. Reforming Disciplinary Justice and Public Sector Efficiency: Minister of Interior Thodoris Livanios, along with Deputy Minister Vivi Charalabogiannis, will introduce a proposal focused on streamlining disciplinary justice processes and promoting greater international engagement by Greece’s public sector.
3. Infrastructure Development: Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras will outline a draft bill aimed at advancing critical infrastructure projects. He is also expected to discuss upcoming tenders, including the connection of the Western Regional Avenue of Egaleo to the Athens-Corinthos National Road and upgrades to key interchanges such as Skaramanga, Schistos, and Shipyard.

Financial Initiatives

The Ministry of Finance will also present two major programs:

• Public Debt Management: Kostis Hatzidakis will provide details on the 2025 Public Debt Borrowing and Management Programme, which will outline strategies for managing Greece’s financial obligations in the year ahead.
• European Bank Participation: Deputy Minister Nikos Papathanasis will discuss Greece’s planned involvement in the capital increase of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, emphasising the country’s commitment to supporting international development efforts.

This meeting is expected to set the tone for Greece’s governmental priorities in 2025, focusing on economic resilience, administrative reforms, and infrastructure growth.
