The Karelia Tobacco Industry is ranked 105th on Forbes—The Greek List 100+, which ranks the 100 largest companies. It is the only company from Messinia on the list with a turnover surpassing 100 million euros.
The country’s two major oil refining groups, Motor Oil Hellas and Hellenic Energy, again top the list. In third place is the leading force in the electricity market in Greece, DEI (Public Power Corporation), followed by a representative of the energy and construction industries, the Metlen Group. Rounding out the top five is a retail representative, the largest supermarket chain in the country, the Hellenic Supermarkets Sklavenitis.
According to the list’s data, Karelia Tobacco Industry had a turnover of 278,235,000 euros in 2023, compared to 257,025,000 euros in 2022, reflecting an 8% increase. The pre-tax profits in 2023 amounted to 110,116,000 euros, slightly down from 111,173,000 euros in 2022, showing a decrease of 1%.
