Adonis Georgiades: If something happens to me, I want to be an organ donor [pics,vid]

“In 2024 we achieved the highest record for transplantations in Greece”, Adonis Georgiades stated among other points.

In the context of his morning intervention, the Minister of Health made a reference to transplantations and organ donations in our country, stressing “I have been an organ donor since 2008. If something happens to me, I want to be an organ donor. The act of organ donation is an act of life, an act of unimaginable value.

In 2024 we have managed to set the highest record for transplantations in our country. In one year we performed as many transplantations as  were performed in three years.”

As the Minister of Health informed at this point, “In the following months a message on the mobile phones of all Greeks will be delivered concerning whether they wish to become organ donors.

I would like to remind you that, at the same time, by June, the Onassis model transplantation centre will be launched. This will concentrate the most modern and innovative equipment and methods in the field of transplantation. The transplantation unit at the Hippocrates Hospital Thessaloniki also deserves great praise.

We have made a great deal of progress. We are talking about the supreme act of solidarity and I am really proud of this great progress.”

Adonis Georgiades concluded by announcing his full programme for this weekend.

“I’m going to be at Patras today, the minister said.

“We are inaugurating the donation of Greek-American medical equipment  related to the upgrade of current equipment in the fight against cancer at  St. Andrews’s Hospital and the greater Western Greece area. Subsequently, I will be visiting Epirus.

I will go to Arta, where I will visit the hospital. I assure you that there is no degradation of Arta’s hospital, for which we have proceeded to new employment positions announcements so that it will be better staffed.
