In an interview with “Parapolitika” radio on Saturday, Deputy Foreign Minister for the Diaspora, Giorgos Kotsiras, highlighted recent initiatives to support the Greek language globally. He discussed the expansion of support for 43 Greek studies programs and schools across 17 countries, marking the first such comprehensive effort in many years. Kotsiras also emphasized the promotion of connections between Greek universities and international academic institutions, alongside efforts to strengthen the network of Greek scientists abroad through collaborations with entities like the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Study in Greece.
Further supporting these initiatives, the Greek language learning platform staellinika.com is being expanded, and a series of cultural activities are being organized to promote the Greek language, culture, and history. These efforts have been widely embraced by Greek communities overseas. “Our relationship with Greeks abroad has always been our top priority. We are delivering concrete actions, not just theories,” Kotsiras stressed.
Turning to foreign policy, Kotsiras reaffirmed that Greece adheres to a principled approach, which has earned the country significant diplomatic capital, culminating in its election to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member.
