PM Mitsotakis to visit Paris when it becomes AI capital of the world

On February 10-11, 2025, Paris will become the Artificial Intelligence capital of the world, on the occasion of the AI Action Summit. Heads of state and government, including Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, international organisations and companies of all sizes, representatives of academia, researchers, non-governmental organisations, artists and other members of civil society from around the world will take part in the event.

The summit comes amid a shifting balance of AI competition between the US and China, following the launch of two AI models by up-and-coming Chinese start-up DeepSeek, which it claims are equal to or better than their American counterparts, and aims “to collectively create scientific bases, solutions and standards for a more sustainable Artificial Intelligence that will work for collective progress and the public interest”.

The event, which will be co-chaired by India, builds on the progress made at the Bletchley Park summit in November 2023 and the Seoul summit in May 2024 and will draw on the expertise of a committee involving around 30 countries and international organisations.

The Summit, together with the Artificial Intelligence Week of Action, will be an important opportunity to showcase the ecosystems that promote the development and application of Artificial Intelligence and to promote specific initiatives from a wide range of entities contributing to this collective effort.

Participants will seek to achieve three main objectives:

• Providing access to independent, secure and reliable artificial intelligence to a wide range of users
• Development of AI that is more environmentally friendly
• Ensuring global AI governance that is effective and inclusive.
