The visit to the Mountain Race and Skiing Training Centre (KEOACH) in the Vrysopoules area (altitude 1,820m) highlighted Greece’s commitment to military preparedness, as the facility is where Greek Rangers undergo rigorous survival and skiing training under extreme conditions.

Greek Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias visited the legendary Mount Olympus on Thursday, February 6, accompanied by the Chiefs of General Staff.

The visit came immediately after Dendias’ trip to Cyprus, reflecting his active role in overseeing Greece’s national defence strategy. According to sources, beyond the formal aspects of the visit, Dendias held discussions with military leadership regarding upcoming arms programs, ensuring he is fully prepared to present them to Parliament—expected later this month.

The Defence Minister’s continuous travels, from one end of Hellenism to the other, signal his hands-on approach to national security, a trait he was known for during his tenure as Foreign Minister. His latest visit underscores the Greek government’s focus on military readiness and strategic planning in an evolving geopolitical landscape.
