In 2023, the European Union’s average life satisfaction rating stood at 7.3 on a scale from 0 to 10, according to recent survey data.
Life satisfaction is shaped by various factors, including age, education level, and financial stability.
Out of the 27 EU member states, 15 countries scored at or above the EU average. Finland led the rankings with the highest score of 7.8, followed closely by Belgium, Austria, Romania, and Slovenia, all at 7.7.
At the other end of the spectrum, Bulgaria recorded the lowest life satisfaction rating at 5.9, followed by Latvia and Greece, both at 6.9. This places Greece among the countries with the lowest reported levels of life satisfaction in the EU.
Despite variations between nations, the survey revealed that all EU countries except Bulgaria scored above 6, indicating that most respondents described themselves as satisfied rather than dissatisfied with their lives.
The findings highlight ongoing disparities in well-being across Europe, with Greece ranking below the EU average, suggesting room for improvement in key areas affecting quality of life.
