Bank of Greece sees sharp decline in Greece’s inflation over the next two years

By the end of 2026, inflation is expected to converge towards the 2% threshold, but will remain slightly above it. However, an increase to 2.5% is expected in 2027. Core inflation is expected to drop in 2024, reaching 2.2% in 2027, mainly reflecting the decline in non-energy industrial goods inflation and to a lesser extent services inflation.

Bank of Greece predicts a sharp decline in Greece’s inflation over the next two years.More specifically, the Bank of Greece predicted that inflation will fall to 2.5% in 2025 from 3% in 2024, while a further fall to 2.2% is expected in 2026. This development is attributed to the sharp decline in energy prices, but also to the decline in prices of basic commodities as well as food.
