The political battleground in the Greek Parliament intensifies tonight as the House of Representatives resumes proceedings on the no-confidence motion.
Political leaders are set to deliver their final speeches before a crucial roll-call vote, with the entire progressive bloc and independent centre-left MPs expected to support the motion.
Tensions Soar Between Androulakis and Florides
PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis launched a scathing attack on the government, accusing its members of lacking empathy. In response, Justice Minister George Florides hit back, claiming PASOK had become “a follower of SYRIZA’s wreckers.” The fierce exchange came amid controversy over an email allegedly sent by Christos Triandopoulos, in which he reportedly requested a cost estimate for landscaping at the site of a tragic accident—an issue that has sparked public outrage.
The debate grew even more heated when Dora Bakoyannis took the floor to confront opposition MP Sokratis Famellos. Accusing the opposition of prejudging the case, she declared, “When a party enters the debate with its mind made up, it leads to complete parliamentary disorder. I have heard a lot about morality, but this is an entirely unethical mindset.”
Her remarks triggered strong reactions from Pasok MP Manzos, as well as New Left MPs Anagnostopoulou and Iliopoulos, escalating the already volatile atmosphere in the chamber.
With tensions running high, all eyes are now on the final vote, which could have significant political repercussions for the government.
