Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Katerina Sakellaropoulou held their last meeting at the Presidential Palace this morning, as her term in office ends in three days.
“Many other meetings will follow, of a different nature,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, thanking Katerina Sakellaropoulou for her five years of service to the country.
“You have left a distinct mark,” he stressed, while referring to the geopolitical upheavals and the prevailing atmosphere, the prevailing geopolitical environment, as well as the internal situation following the motion of no confidence last Friday, as well as the massive demonstrations that are continuing.
“It is our duty to heal the wounds,” the Prime Minister also said, and above all to build relationships of trust between the state and the citizens.
And this brings us, as he announced, to a revision of the Constitution and specifically to Article 86, the article on ministerial responsibility.
The Prime Minister also referred to the developments in Syria, stating that Greece will continue to fight for the protection of minorities.
For her part, Katerina Sakellaropoulou thanked the Prime Minister, noting that these regular monthly meetings and briefings were important.
In difficult times, political understanding is more important than ever, said Katerina Sakellaropoulou and underlined: “I hope that everything goes well in the country and that the wounds heal. That there is accountability and responsibility where the institutions are involved.”
