Greece’s political landscape is undergoing significant change as Kostas Tasoulas is sworn in as the country’s ninth President of the Republic since the restoration of democracy.
The official swearing-in ceremony is set for 11:00 AM in the plenary hall of the Hellenic Parliament, where Archbishop Ieronymos will lead the religious service.
Following the ceremony, Tasoulas will be welcomed at the Presidential Mansion, his new official residence. Before assuming his duties, he will meet with the leadership of the Armed Forces at the office of Speaker of Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis. A wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier will also take place as part of the day’s formal proceedings. Traffic regulations have been put in place in central Athens to accommodate the event.

Uncertainty Surrounding Cabinet Reshuffle
Meanwhile, the Greek government is bracing for an anticipated cabinet reshuffle, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expected to announce changes by the end of the week. Meetings between the prime minister and key government officials have been ongoing, fueling speculation about whether the reshuffle will be a fundamental restructuring or a more strategic realignment.
Among those seen meeting with Mitsotakis in recent days are Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Theodoros Skylakakis, Stavros Papastavrou, Notis Mitarachi, and Dimitris Kairidis. A central question remains over who will be appointed as Greece’s next finance minister, given that current Minister Kostis Hatzidakis is widely expected to transition to a key role at the Maximos Mansion, the prime minister’s office.
As discussions continue behind closed doors, Greece awaits the next steps in what could be a defining moment for the country’s political and economic direction.
