Greece has been recognised as one of the top destinations for immigrants in 2025, according to the Immigration Index released by digital remittance service Remitly.

In its inaugural ranking, the index assesses 82 countries worldwide based on 24 key factors influencing immigration decisions. Each country receives a comprehensive score out of 100, reflecting its overall appeal for newcomers. Greece secured the 38th position with a score of 38.3.

European nations dominated the top rankings, with Iceland emerging as the leading destination for migrants in 2025. Known for its scenic landscapes, northern lights, and high quality of life, Iceland excelled in areas such as access to banking, digital connectivity, and personal safety.

Switzerland, Luxembourg, Norway, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed in the top five, offering a combination of economic stability, safety, and infrastructure that make them attractive to expatriates. Other highly ranked countries included Ireland, the United States, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Australia.
