PAOK etched its name in the history books with a dramatic 3-2 victory over AEK at the OPAP Arena, overturning a 2-0 deficit in a match that keeps them in the race for second place—and a potential spot in the Champions League qualifiers.
The Thessaloniki-based club staged a mythical comeback, trailing 2-0 by the 47th minute, to secure a result of monumental significance.
This triumph marked the first time in 28 years that PAOK has reversed a 2-0 scoreline against an Athens-based team—namely Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, or AEK—since their memorable 3-2 win over Athinaikos on February 24, 1997. On that occasion, goals from Frantzeskos (44’), Sidiropoulos (56’), and Vryzas (57’) sealed the turnaround. The latest victory also made PAOK only the second Greek team to win at the OPAP Arena, following Olympiacos’ successes (3-1 on March 12, 2023, and 1-0 on March 2, 2025).

The “black-and-whites” were powered by standout performances, including a goal from Andrija Živković, who continued his impressive record against AEK. The Serbian midfielder now boasts 6 goals in 24 encounters with the “Enosis,” alongside 11 wins, 8 draws, and 5 losses. Dimitris Pelkas added his third goal against AEK, holding a record of 8 wins, 2 draws, and 5 losses in 15 matches, while Giannis Konstantelias notched his fourth strike against the same opponent, with 4 wins, 4 draws, and 7 losses in 15 games.
This historic upset, the first of its kind since 1997 against an Athenian side on their home turf, underscores PAOK’s resilience and keeps their European ambitions alive as the season progresses.
