Speaking at a government economic policy meeting, Mitsotakis specifically highlighted products such as olive oil, table olives, and feta cheese, saying that “these products are not produced in the US, and therefore, it makes no sense to impose tariffs on them.”

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reacted on Monday to the US tariffs on EU goods, which are expected to impact Greece’s agricultural and food sectors.

Speaking at a government economic policy meeting, Mitsotakis specifically highlighted products such as olive oil, table olives, and feta cheese, saying that “these products are not produced in the US, and therefore, it makes no sense to impose tariffs on them.”

Greek food exports account for approximately 31% of the country’s total exports to the US, with table olives alone contributing €212 million to that figure.

In an interview with the Financial Times published on Monday, Greek central bank governor Yannis Stournaras warned that President Donald Trump’s tariff measures could slow economic growth in the euro area by between 0.5 and 1 percentage point.
