Greek DM solidifies alliance with Lebanon and guarantees security and prosperity

On Tuesday, the Minister of National Defense of Greece, Nikos Dendias, paid an official visit to Lebanon, at the invitation of his counterpart Michel Menassa. Dendias was also received by the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Joseph Aoun.

Furthermore, Greece’s unwavering support for Lebanon and its institutions was discussed, as well as the need for close coordination between the two countries in combating illegal immigration in the Mediterranean.

The two ministers held a joint press conference following the meeting, emphasizing the deepening of historical bilateral ties and Greece’s full support for the Lebanese army.

Following the visit, Nikos Dendias was received by the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Joseph Aoun, at the Presidential Palace.

Furthermore, President Aoun noted that the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, the failure to withdraw, and the failure to return Lebanese prisoners constitute a violation of Security Council Resolution 1701 and the terms of the agreement reached last November, which could threaten stability in the southern region.

The Minister of National Defense of Greece conveyed to President Aoun the greetings of the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Greece’s readiness to provide the necessary support to the Lebanese Armed Forces, depending on their needs, as well as to share Greek experience in various military fields.
