A recent study by Compare the Market AU revealed that Greece is the eighth most expensive country for parking, with drivers paying an average of €6 for two hours.

The study evaluated parking fees, traffic congestion, road quality, fatality rates, and electric charger availability. Greece scored 37.82 out of 100, with a high % congestion rate of 40.5% and a fatality rate of 7.3 per 100,000. Its road quality, rated 4.6 out of 7, and limited electric charger network (749) further elevate driver stress. Global searches for “stressful driving” have surged by 100% over the past year, with Greece registering 1,250 annual searches.

  2. United States: €8.44, 22.7% congestion, 48.38/100 stress score

  5. Netherlands: €6.92, 29.7% congestion, 29.35/100 stress score
  6. Japan: €6.53, 32.6% congestion, 20.07/100 stress score
  7. Canada: €6.42, 29.6% congestion, 29.83/100 stress score
  8. Greece: €6.24, 40.5% congestion, 37.82/100 stress score

Romania topped the list as the most stressful driving country, scoring 50.96 due to severe congestion (55%) and poor road quality (3/7). Australia, despite its high parking costs (€17.21), ranked second, followed by the United States, which has a high fatality rate (14.2 per 100,000) and car thefts (291.3 per 100,000). The Netherlands emerged as the least stressful, boasting superior road quality and extensive electric charger infrastructure.

Adrian Taylor, Executive General Manager at Compare the Market AU, emphasized the importance of comprehensive car insurance to mitigate driving stress, urging drivers to compare policies for adequate coverage against theft and damage.
