U.S. seeks more access for agricultural exports to the EU – Targets geographical indications, claiming they distort competition – Feta and Parmesan are at the top of the list
Greece ranks among the EU countries with the highest proportion of low-paid workers. Specifically, 21.7% of workers earn two-thirds or less of the median gross hourly wage—placing Greece fourth after Bulgaria, Romania, and Latvia. The EU average is 14.7%, while in the Eurozone it’s slightly lower at 14.3%.
Notably, food inflation remained nearly stagnant at just 0.1%, while the highest price increases were recorded in passenger air transport (31.6%), natural gas (26.5%), hotels-motels-inns (16.8%), residential rents (9.2%), and holiday packages (8.4%). Additionally, health insurance premiums saw a 7% rise.
This decision aims to curb tax evasion and promote market standardization, with hefty fines reaching up to 5,000 euros for violations.
