Citing Article 74, Paragraph 2 of the Constitution, Kaklamanis expressed confidence that all political parties, including the government, support the 151-seat majority. He suggested that no further consultation with the Parliament’s Scientific Council would be necessary to clarify the matter.
Stournaras argued that for the euro to become a reserve currency, a "stronger, more integrated, and growth-oriented economy in the euro area" is needed
The ruling, which cannot be appealed, was welcomed by Greece’s center-right government. It reduces the number of MPs in the 300-seat Hellenic Parliament to 297 and lowers the threshold for an absolute majority from 151 to 149 votes. The decision is effective for the remainder of the current parliamentary term, ending in 2027.
Greece has been lobbying for their return to the country for almost 200 years.
If the economy deteriorates and inflation falls sustainably below 2% we will move to cut interest rates, but "we will go meeting by meeting to see what we do next", Stournaras told Bloomberg TV
The problem is present in all mountainous areas of Greece and in recent years has intensified in Tzoumerka, the Achelous Valley, and Agrafa, also affecting Kitheronas – to a lesser extent – Helicon, parts of Epirus, and the Peloponnese.
